Thoughts of a lone Tenno
12 décembre 2013

They are here.

grineer vs infested

It is as I feared. I don't know what Alad V did to summon the Infested in his desperate attempts to hide from us, but we are now paying the price for it. The twisted bodies of the infested monsters are swarming on Grineer and Corpus alike. As I write, they are trying to repel their incursions on Earth and Neptune. They are not yet endangered enough to ask for each other's help. Quite the contrary, actually. The fools think themselves very clever in attacking one another on Europe and Ceres, in the center of the solar system. Fools. For now, their skirmishes are pretty minor, and I hope they will keep it that way and come to their senses. But, they have been wise enough to hire us where they cannot hope to win alone.

Since the Gravidius Dilemna, I still haven't gotten used to fight alongside my enemies, be they Corpus or Grineer. However, repelling the Infested with them is a good sign for the future. A timid, faint and fragile sign, but good nonetheless. It is a strange war... Most of the time, we are dispatched near something to protect, but this time, it is not the greedy ones or the ruthless warriors we repel: they fight with us, united against the endless hordes.

One after the other, they fall to protect their own. Their dedication is worthy of respect even if we're likely to slay the survivors one some ship, some day. They get the hard fight, they battle aginast impossible odds. It is Neptune and Earth after all, those are not the most heavily guarded of places. We, Tenno, are here to do what they cannot: win. It is not that hard for us. While the Corpus and Grineer deal with loss and pain between two waves, we chat about the last weaponry we've crafted, and how to upgrade it, or give the position of rare components we found during the fight. A few seconds later, we're patrolling around whatever it is we protect, ready to give hell to any infested that comes within range.

shooting infested

Sometimes, we're here for some cleansing business. As an army of four, we are a running rampage our new allies cannot hope to match in speed. They merely follow, in case we left something alive lurking behind; but truly, they can't do much but hold them off until we arrive. And that's not mentioning when the Stalker came. Twice. Once he got what he came for, and once was he forced to retreat. I wonder why he showed up while we were helping against the endless hordes. What could he possibly want with the Infested making progress?

I can't recall the names of the ones I fought the Stalker with, but I like going in a assignment and finding fellow Tennos in a talking mood. Those I fought with protecting the Grineer I recall. Their names were Brimir and Xelsior. We stood our ground against endless waves of Infested and the ruthless warriors saw us like a immovable line of defence, always on the move, but never letting go. With Wolty, Nerobrain and Dislerio, we helped the Lotus get into Grineer ships taken over by the Infested. We may regret the ships are still functional later, but letting the Infested set foot on Earth would for sure have mean consequences and gravely imperils the balance the Lotus works so hard for.

corpus siege

I can't believe someone on both sides thought it was a good idea to attack the other. Arrogant fools and miscalculating idiots. But as long as their petty warlords a don't start a new little skirmish session or let it degenerate into an all out war, it will be okay, I guess. Ceres is in the asteroid belt and Europe is turning around Jupiter, both far away from Neptune and the Earth, so the Infested are unlikely to take advantage of it for now. One can always hope; they would be the only winners from a war of attrition between the Corpus and the Grineer.

door

But we'll manage to balance it.
            Somehow.
For it has happened before; and it will happen again.

Thoughts of a lone Tenno
  • Here are the thoughts of a lone tenno, one among the others. The intent is a little storytelling on a weekly basis in the Warframe universe. Contributions are welcome in the comments, but censorship will meet useless stuff like a Stalker strike.
