Thoughts of a lone Tenno

Trees and butchers

A lot has happened Lately. Infested had continued to swarm in the system and, in the meantime, Grineer and Corpus went on with their skirmishes, desperately trying to bring us to their side by appealing to our greed. They amuse me. They don’t seem to realize that the more they fight, the weaker they get whereas us, Tenno, get stronger and better equipped. One day, the balance the Lotus works for won’t be accomplished by careful nudges in the right direction, but by the fear of our might. That day, we shall shape the solar system as we please. But the road is still long and bitter.

In unrelated events, the Grineer might have just gone mad. Until today, I’ve never set foot on Earth soil. Not in any life I can remember, that is. I’ve only seen her from a distance when storming Grineer ships orbiting the planet. A few hours ago, I landed with a few others; for the wrong reasons, I might say. The ruthless ones are trying to kill the lung of their own homeworld. They plan to poison their wild forests to build homes in their disgraceful manner. Their world is full of deserts, its surface is covert with barren wilderness. Why don’t they build something there? Why is that they feel the need to destroy something before doing anything? This is ridiculous. They may be noteworthy opponents at the far ends of the system, but this… This is showing no more sanity than Alad V trying to hide behind infested he summoned on Jupiter.

We’re not really the mercenaries we’re supposed to be in this fight. We will destroy their toxin injectors and protect this forest. We probably won’t get much for this, but it must be done. If the legends are true, all life came from this very planet. Where the Grineers see weeds to be thrown away, I see stunning beauty. Earth’s trees are an unparalleled marvel in this verse. The only thing I could compare them with are the white trees of the Orokin Towers, in the Void beyond the realms of normal space.

And they want to destroy them. How mad can they get? Did they tried to build something there and took offense from the forest not letting go that easy? The very forest who feeds their lungs? Just how far can they let their egos run wild before listening to reason? I was wrong… Infested swarms on Earth or Mars orbits were not enough to worry them. They just went with their old ways, kept the status quo as if nothing worth attention were happening. I hope, for the sake of the balance, that they are not dooming us all.

In the midst of all these events, a new warframe has awaken. He wears the name of a Uranus satellite: Oberon. I wonder if there is any connection. But his coming asks even more direly this very one question: where are our warframes coming from? I already spoke of my doubts concerning the origin of the Valkyr. No one can tell for now. Our very origin remains a mystery. The only reliable information we’ve found so far is an old Orokin archive.

what are warframes

It answers as much as it asks.

We’re not where we started, but nowhere are we near a definitive answer. The more warframes we can wear, the more I wonder: what are they exactly, and who is making them? What are we?

Still, when my thoughts are brought in this direction, the Void is the only place where I could seek an answer.

Thoughts of a lone Tenno
  • Here are the thoughts of a lone tenno, one among the others. The intent is a little storytelling on a weekly basis in the Warframe universe. Contributions are welcome in the comments, but censorship will meet useless stuff like a Stalker strike.
